Twenty-three Nobel Prize-winning economists have published a joint letter in support of U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.

"I think Harris would be much better as the guardian of the U.S. economy," said economist Joseph Stiglitz, a professor at Columbia University, and 23 other Nobel laureates in an open letter on the 23rd local time.

"We believe Harris' economic agenda will improve the health and sustainability of the U.S. economy, employment opportunities and fairness," the economists who co-signed the letter said.

"Candidate Trump's economic policy will lead to higher inflation and greater inequality with regressive corporate and income tax cuts, as well as high tariffs on allies and allies," he said.

In particular, he stressed that Trump is threatening the rule of law and economic and political certainty, which are important determinants of economic success.

MIT Professors Daron Azemoelu and Simon Johnson, co-winners of this year's Nobel Prize in Economics, and Harvard University Professor Claudia Goldin, who won last year's prize.

Earlier in June, 16 Nobel Prize-winning economists, led by Professor Stiglitz, wrote a joint letter saying then-Democratic candidate Joe Biden's economic policy was superior to Trump's.
