China's October Manufacturing PMI Escapes 'Economy Reduction' After Half a Year

2024.10.31 PM 05:15
The Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI), a measure of China's economic trends, has returned to an expansion phase for the first time in half a year.

China's National Bureau of Statistics reported that the manufacturing sector's PMI in October this year was 50.1, up 0.3 points from last month.

It is the first time in six months that the manufacturing PMI has exceeded 50 since April.

The manufacturing PMI, which surveyed 3,200 companies in China on new orders, production, and employees by category, means that if it exceeds 50, it will expand the economy and if it falls below 50, it will shrink.

The non-manufacturing PMI, which surveys construction and services activity, rose 0.2 points from September to 50.2.

The overall PMI for manufacturing, service and construction industries was 50.8, up 0.4 points from last month..
