With the U.S. presidential election just five days away, there are observations that the number of early voters will exceed half of all voters.According to a survey of 1,700 adults ages 18 and older across the U.S. by Gallup, a U.S. pollster,
, 20% of respondents said they had already voted, and 34% said they planned to vote early.
54% of the respondents said they had or planned to vote in advance, higher than 42% who said they would vote on November 5, the day of the U.S. presidential election.
Voters who voted early in the presidential election exceeded 50 million across the United States, nearly a third of the total 158.43 million voters cast in the 2020 election.
Among registered Democratic voters and Democratic-backed nonpartisan voters, 63% said they had already voted or planned to vote early, higher than 47% of registered Republican voters or Republican-backed nonpartisan voters.
