The bells rang for the first time in more than five years since the 2019 fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France, AFP reported.

The restoration team of Notre Dame Cathedral tested eight bells in the northern bell tower on the morning of the 8th, local time, a month before the cathedral's reopening."The first test was successful," Alexandre Guzong, a reinstaller of

, told AFP news agency. "It's not perfect yet, but it will make it complete."

"We were all deeply moved," said Father Guillaume Normandy of the Cathedral upon hearing the bell, calling it a "sign of joy."

Notre Dame Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and French religious, historical, and cultural symbol, caught fire during renovations on April 15, 2019.

At that time, the fire destroyed the 93-meter-high spire, destroyed most of the wooden roof, and burned some of the northern bell towers.

The cathedral plans to hold a ceremony to celebrate its reopening on the 7th of next month and open to the public from the 8th, the next day.
