French President Macron says the U.S. authorized the use of long-range weapons to strike mainland Russia because of the North Korean military's participation in the war.
"I understand that it was triggered by a significant change that should not be underestimated: North Korea's participation in the war," Macron told reporters in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where the G20 summit will be held.
"Russia has brought North Korea, a very aggressive force committed to its nuclear program, including long-range missiles, into its alliance," he criticized.
He also evaluated the U.S. decision as very desirable.
Macron's government has provided Ukraine with long-range air-to-ground cruise missiles, but has yet to lift the range limit.
