The wearable robot technology for walking assistance for the disabled, developed by KAIST, has once again won the top prize in an international competition called the Cyborg Olympics.
A research team led by KAIST mechanical engineering professor Gong Kyung-chul won first place with the wearable robot "Work-On Suit F1" developed with its own technology at the "3rd Cybathlon International Competition" held online and offline on the 27th.
He ranked third in the first competition in 2016, but after ranking first in the second competition in 2020, he kept his first place again this time.
The KAIST team ranked first in 6 minutes and 41 seconds with missions such as side steps, moving boxes, free walking without a cane, passing through doors, and handling food in the kitchen.
71 teams from 26 countries participated in the competition, which aims to overcome obstacles with robot technology, competing in eight sports, including not only wearable robots, but also robot prosthetic legs and robot wheelchairs.
