Naver Webtoon filed a lawsuit against illegal webtoon and web novel site operators today (22nd) in the Suwon District Court for 1 billion won in damages.
The targets of the lawsuit are those who operated illegal sites and were arrested by the police and the government's copyright crime scientific investigation team last year.
Naver Webtoon said it quickly launched a lawsuit based on the news of the arrest, and explained that the amount of claims could be increased if the facts of their illegal activities are specified.
Kim Kyu-nam, vice president of Naver Webtoon, stressed that he will do his best to protect creators by responding to illegal content distribution with the principle of intolerance.
