Children's Orchestra in Wheelchair Performs Peace at DMZ

The "Wheel Harmony Orchestra," composed of the world's first wheelchair-using members, successfully completed the first external performance, the "DMZ OPEN Festival."

On the 19th, six members of the Sangsang Wheel Harmony Orchestra performed an ensemble of three songs at Pocheon Cathedral in Gyeonggi Province, providing a touching stage.

Sangsang Wheel Harmony Orchestra consists of 24 members who have received professional music education through "Academy Sangsangin," a mentoring program for children and adolescents using wheelchairs.

Among them, six members appeared as special guests at the "DMZ OPEN Festival" performance and performed Henry Purcell's "Rigo Dong," Gosek's "Gabot D Major," and Beethoven's "Ode to Joy." It's spring.Ye, Song Ha-yeon, and students played the violin, Myung Ha-yul played the cello, and Yoon Kyu-ri and Jeong So-eun played the flute, providing music that matched the romantic autumn.



Sangsangin Group is engaged in social contribution activities to provide electric wheelchairs free of charge for children with disabilities who have difficulty moving. In partnership with the Music Foundation for One, a non-profit organization specializing in music and arts education, "Academy Imaginative Music Education" is also underway to provide professional music education to children and adolescents in wheelchairs according to a step-by-step curriculum such as basic theory and musical instrument performance practice.

At this performance, the members of the Sangsang Wheel Harmony Orchestra were praised for delivering emotion and hope to the audience with beautiful melodies wishing for peace in a meaningful space called DMZ.
