The bereaved family of the April 3rd celebrated the news of Han Kang's Nobel Prize in Literature, a novelist of "I Don't Say Goodbye," which captures the tragedy of Jeju's April 3rd.

Kim Chang-beom, chairman of Jeju's April 3 bereaved family, said he sincerely congratulates a writer on winning the Nobel Prize in Literature, and hopes that the hearts of elderly surviving victims and their bereaved families will be healed and comforted through his work.

Jeju Governor Oh Young-hoon also congratulated a writer on winning the Nobel Prize in Literature on social media, saying, "Thanks to the writer Han Kang, Jeju residents were able to heal the wounds of the April 3rd and gain the courage to move to the world with the value of reconciliation and co-prosperity."

In "Do Not Say Goodbye," a work about the tragedy and pain of Jeju's April 3rd, a writer told a literary story of an ordinary family who lost a family member who loved state violence.

The government's fact-finding report tentatively reported that as few as 14,000 people and as many as 30,000 people were killed at the time of Jeju April 3.
