The Gyeonggi-do Provincial Council's regular meeting was disrupted from the first day as the People's Power refused to attend today (5th) demanding the resignation of Governor Kim Dong-yeon's political line.

The People's Power held a general meeting of lawmakers ahead of the opening of the regular meeting in the morning and decided to boycott the regular meeting schedule altogether, starting with the absence of the first plenary session.

The People's Power claimed Governor Ko Young-in, Senior Secretary for Political Affairs Yoon Joon-ho, Senior Secretary for Cooperation Kim Bong-kyun, and Senior Secretary for Communication Son Joon-hyuk, who were appointed today, that Governor Kim's abuse of personnel rights for political purposes.

Earlier, People's Power issued a statement on the 27th of last month, saying, "Former lawmaker Ko Young-in, who was nominated as deputy governor of the economy, criticized the Grand National Party (the predecessor of the people's power) without hesitation while representing the Democratic Party of the provincial assembly, and former lawmaker Yoon Joon-ho, who was nominated as senior presidential secretary for political affairs, was a former lawmaker in Busan, unrelated to Gyeonggi Province," criticizing, "It is nothing more than an abuse of personnel rights to satisfy Governor Kim's self-interest."

He also demanded the resignation of Kim Jong-seok, a former lawmaker of the Democratic Party of Korea, a hearing for the head of the Gyeonggi Medical Center and the head of the Gyeonggi Mayor's Commercial Promotion Agency, who were appointed last month without a confirmation hearing, and the Democratic Party's apology for breaking the spirit of the consultation.

Due to the refusal to attend the plenary session, only the Democratic Party and the New Reform Party members attended.

The number of lawmakers by party in the provincial council is 76 for the People's Power, 76 for the Democratic Party, and 2 for the New Reform Party.
