Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he expected to engage with North Korean troops sent to Russia in the coming days, with claims that North Korean troops were killed in large numbers while fighting their first battle on the Ukrainian front.

The Telegram channel, which has mainly delivered Ukraine news, released the video, saying, "The North Korean military was deployed to the Kursk region."

In the video, the man, who was lying in bed and bandaged his head and face, said: "The Russian military lied that it would be safe to stay in the protective facilities."

However, he said in Korean that he was blindly put into the front line and all of his colleagues were killed.

At the time of the battle, he said, "I was able to survive by hiding under the bodies of my comrades," describing the miserable situation at the time of the battle.

The authenticity of this video has not been confirmed.

Earlier on the 28th local time, Jonas Oman, head of the Lithuanian non-profit organization Blue Yellow, told Lithuanian media LRT, "On the 25th of last month, the Ukrainian unit supported by Blue Yellow visually identified the North Korean military for the first time," adding, "As far as I know, there was only one survivor."

The Omani representative claimed that the only surviving North Korean military had the identification of a Buryat, a Mongolian Russian, and that the North Korean military is believed to have been issued fake identification cards to disguise their identity.

However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told KBS on the 30th local time that "North Korean troops sent to Russia have not participated in the fighting so far and are preparing to participate in the fighting in Kursk," adding that he expects to engage with North Korea in the coming days.

President Zelensky confirmed that media reports that Ukrainian and North Korean troops engaged in the first battle and resulted in North Korean deaths were not true, and that US CNN reports that North Korean troops crossed the Ukrainian border were also not true.
