The prosecution, which has been investigating the allegation of receiving luxury bags from the First Lady of Yoon Suk Yeol, Kim Gun-hee, has decided not to turn over all the officials involved in the case, including the President and his wife, Pastor Choi Jae-young, to trial.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office announced today (2nd) that it has not indicted all five officials, including President Yoon, First Lady Kim, Pastor Choi, and Seoul Sound Representative Baek Eun-jong.

The investigation team first saw that Kim could not be punished because there was no punishment regulation for the spouse of a public official in connection with the alleged violation of the anti-graft law.

In addition, it was judged that President Yoon could not be held accountable because the gift Kim received was only a means of maintaining friendship or interviewing.

In addition, he added that there was no intention or recognition to mediate Pastor Choi's pending issues in a situation where no quid pro quo was recognized, so there were no charges of mediation and violation of the Lawyers Act.

Earlier, the prosecution's investigation and deliberation committee decided that Pastor Choi's alleged violation of the anti-graft law, which recommended prosecution, was not charged as it was difficult to admit his job relevance.

The prosecution emphasized that the results of the investigation were concluded with the consensus of all the investigation team after carefully reviewing whether the accused could be held criminally liable according to evidence and legal principles without any other consideration.

The prosecution concluded its investigation into the luxury bag case five months after former Prosecutor General Lee Won-seok ordered the formation of a dedicated investigation team in May.
