The official election campaign for the October 16 by-elections began today (3rd).

In the election of four heads of local governments and one superintendent of the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the leaders of the ruling and opposition parties have been going to the campaign trail since the first day of the campaign and are engaged in an all-out war.

I'll connect you to the National Assembly reporter for more information. Reporter Kang Min-kyung!

Yes, it's the National Assembly.

Please tell me the status of each party's candidate registration and today's campaign schedule in detail!

[Reporter]
Yes, the areas where the election for the head of the local government will be held this time are Geumjeong-gu, Busan, Ganghwa-gun, Incheon, and Yeonggwang-gun and Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do.

Among them, the People's Power has nominated three candidates except for Yeonggwang, Jeollanam-do.

In particular, from the ruling party's point of view, Geumjeong-gun in Busan and Ganghwa-gun in Incheon are dominant areas where they have to "capture," so the leadership seems to be strengthening from the first day of the campaign.

Floor leader Choo Kyung-ho is especially active.

Despite the fact that his constituency is Daegu, he will visit Ganghwa Pungmul Market this afternoon and attend the opening ceremony of Park Yong-cheol, the candidate for Ganghwa County.

CEO Han Dong-hoon, who has already visited Ganghwa and Busan once, will hold a campaign rally to support Gokseong, Jeollanam-do, a vulnerable area of the party, starting next week.

After that, the plan is to visit Busan and Incheon again and hold an on-site supreme council to further consolidate the party's power.

The opposition party has also launched full-fledged support for the election, especially the battle for Honam.

The Democratic Party of Korea, which has nominated for all four elections for the head of a local government, will start a campaign to support in Yeonggwang, Jeollanam-do, led by Lee Jae-myung, and then move on to Geumjeong, Busan in the afternoon.

As the Democratic Party of Korea is focusing its efforts on recapturing Geumjeong-gu, Busan, judging that public sentiment in the PK region, which was classified as the dominant region of the ruling party, is unusual, it is predicted that the confrontation between the ruling and opposition parties in the region will be the most severe.

Cho Kuk, the leader of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party, will carry out all the schedules in Yeonggwang and Gokseong in Jeollanam-do today, the first day of the official election campaign.

Although it is an election to elect two county heads, the opposition party is intensifying its competition for the Honam leadership as the Cho Kuk Innovation Party actively participates in the election.

In the meantime, attention is being paid to the opposition party's unification of candidates for Busan's Geumjeong-gu district office, but the Democratic Party of Korea and the Cho Kuk Innovation Party have yet to narrow their differences over the unification method.

The official campaign period for the October 16 by-elections is 13 days until the 15th.

Although it is a mini-election to select one superintendent and four heads of local governments, the ruling and opposition parties are each engaged in an all-out war as it is recognized as a prelude to the local elections next year.

So far, I've delivered it to you by the National Assembly.
