119 dispatched due to fishing accidents. Last year, more than 600 cases...Focus on the fall season

Last year, fire authorities were dispatched to more than 600 accidents while fishing.

According to the National Fire Agency's emergency activities data, out of 653 cases where firefighters were dispatched due to accidents while fishing last year, October was the most common with 17%, followed by 15.5% in September and 11.5% in August, mainly in autumn.

As for the type of accident, 41% of the cases were injured by fishing hooks, 28.1% were fallen or slipped, and 12.3% and 7.5% were drowned or bitten by fish, respectively.

For safe fishing activities, the National Fire Agency urged people to wear life vests while fishing, and to fish together with two or more people only in licensed places.
