German media outlet Spiegel reported that the hacker group "Kimsuky" under the North Korean Reconnaissance General Bureau appears to have tried to extract weapons-related information from German defense company Deal Defense. The media outlet

said Kim Su-ki tried to plant malicious software by sending a document file to DealDefence employees disguised as a job offer in the security sector.

Experts at U.S. cybersecurity firm Mandiant said there are signs that North Korean hackers have been widely active since the first quarter of this year, including collecting German postcodes and phone numbers.

Germany's Federal Information Technology Security Agency (BSI) also said it was monitoring Kim's activities in Germany.

Deal Defense is a company that makes air-to-air missiles IRIS-T (Iris-T).

The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) announced in May that it had succeeded in conducting air-to-air guided launches of a domestic supersonic fighter jet equipped with the missile.
