Italy has received 6.4 trillion won in investment from Microsoft and Microsoft to create artificial intelligence and AI infrastructure.

According to Reuters and Ansah (ANSA) on the 4th local time, Microsoft announced the previous day that it would spend 4.3 billion euros and about 6.3539 trillion won to build cloud and AI infrastructure such as data centers in northern Italy.

Microsoft said in a statement that the new data center to be built in Milan will serve as a data hub for the Mediterranean and North Africa, calling it the largest Italian investment ever.

Microsoft will also support technical training to train more than 1 million digital workers by the end of next year, it added.

The announcement came after Microsoft President Brad Smith met Italian Prime Minister Zorza Meloni in Rome.

The Prime Minister's Office has issued a statement welcoming Microsoft's investment plans.

On the 30th of last month, Meloni met with Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock, the world's largest asset management company.

BlackRock and Microsoft announced on the 17th of last month that they would create a $30 billion (about 40 trillion won) fund to build AI infrastructure, saying, "The fund's investment will be concentrated in the U.S. and the rest of the funds will be invested in the U.S."
