'Lebanon ground war' is also a big burden for Israel

Israel-Hezbollah war likely to prolong

Anti-Israel sentiment in the Arab world is high...Concerns over escalation in the Middle East

The U.S. is reduced to being a "looker" ahead of the presidential election.

Despite the concerns of the international community, Israel has launched a ground war against Hezbollah.

As soon as Israel crossed the Lebanese border, a prolonged war and expansion across the Middle East became inevitable.

Reporter Kwon Young-hee reports.

Israel has launched a ground war in Lebanon for the first time in 18 years since 2006.

The primary goal is to push Hezbollah north of the Ritani River, 29 kilometers north of the border.

[Herji Halebi / Chief of Staff of the Israeli Armed Forces: We will not allow Hezbollah to settle here. Hezbollah will continue to suffer severe damage in Beirut, the Lebanese Valley, and all parts of southern Lebanon.]

The invasion of Lebanon is also a huge burden for Israel.

Hezbollah still has tens of thousands of combat-experienced troops and large-scale weapons.

First of all, Israel has limited ground operations.

[Firas Maxard / Senior Researcher at Middle East Research Institute: There was a failed experience going back to 1978 and 1982 in Lebanon until the withdrawal in 2000. Ground forces of any kind will remain fairly limited.]

However, the war against Hezbollah is likely to be prolonged.

Hezbollah has fortified villages near the Lebanese border and built underground tunnels well.

You can bully the Israeli army in familiar terrain.

Unlike the war against Hamas, Israeli soldiers are dying one after another.

Anti-Israel sentiment in the Arab world has already crossed the threshold, raising concerns that the front line will expand across the Middle East.

[Paul Moorecraft / Military Power Analyst: A third intifada (people's uprising) could happen in the West Bank, Saudi Arabia could get caught up with the Houthi rebels like the 'Vietnam War' or Syrian troops could enter the Golan. It could be a big war.

In the run-up to the presidential election, the United States has become a spectator.

If you cut off the supply of weapons to Israel, pro-Israel votes will fall off, and if you push Israel, anti-Israel votes will disappear.

Netanyahu's Israel, which has chosen a risky gamble to prolong its political life, is pushing the world beyond the Middle East into disaster.
