As Vice President Harris and former U.S. President Trump continue to engage in a super-confrontation, the enthusiasm of early voting by voters is getting hotter.

Early voting, which caused a stir in the 2020 presidential election, is expected to be a variable in this presidential election.

Washington correspondent Hong Sang-hee visited the early voting center a month before the U.S. presidential election.

This is an early voting center in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States.

It has already been 14 days since the 20th of last month when early voting for a visit to the polling place began, and the voting procession has continued to the extent that there is no parking space.

A month before the presidential election, the early voting fever is getting hotter.

[Florence Brown / Early Voting Manager, Fairfax County, Va.: The number of (early-voting) voters is definitely up compared to 2020, and (currently turnout) is up 9% from four years ago. Statistics show that the first two days of early voting broke records.

In front of polling stations, Republicans and Democrats are competing to create booths side by side.

The president and vice president, as well as the House and Senate, are struggling to distribute samples of ballots that indicate in detail who to vote for.

Sitting in a seat with a ballot and struggling with time is a very different landscape from Korea's early voting centers.

Virginia, which has 13 electors allocated, is a strong Democratic district, but the votes are as mixed as the ultra-close showdown.

[Wednesday / Harris Supporter: I came out to vote today to shut up someone, to let someone run the country. Donald Trump is bad at public relations. It will only destroy the future. I know what kind of person Kamala Harris is.]

[Jack / Supporter of former President Trump: This election is very important. We need new leadership. Trump is a businessman, not a politician, so he thinks like a businessman and knows what he has to do.]

Forty-six states and Washington, D.C., hold face-to-face early voting, and other states have relatively long-term early voting, such as Virginia, which can hold more than 40 days of early voting until Nov. 2, three days before presidential day.

Early voting rates, including mail-in voting, continued to rise, from 33% in 2012 to 69% in the 2020 presidential election.

Many analysts said that the higher the pre-voting rate, the more favorable it is for Democrats, but as the close race continues, both Vice President Harris and former President Trump are encouraging them to visit competing states to vote.

With record early voting participation in the U.S. presidential election four years ago, the final turnout was raised to 66.9%, and the participation in early voting is expected to be a major variable in the race, which is the most close competition ever.
