Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak predicted that a symbolic attack on Iran's nuclear-related facilities could take place amid an imminent Israeli retribution following Iran's missile attack.

For now, the weight is on how to strike oil and oil refineries that support the Iranian economy, but airstrikes on nuclear facilities are also possible in a symbolic sense.

However, former Prime Minister Barak diagnosed that as Iran's nuclear technology has advanced considerably, it will be difficult to expect a great effect from such a strike.

The British daily Guardian reported on the 4th local time that former Prime Minister Barak raised the possibility through an interview.

"Israel has a desperate need for retaliation, and there are reasons why it must," Barak said in an interview.

He explained that Israel's response model can be found in the bombing of Yemen's Houthi rebels late last month.

Israel launched ballistic missiles at Israel's Ben Gurion airport in retaliation for the Houthi rebels' launch of ballistic missiles at the country's Ben Gurion airport.

"I think a similar attack can take place," former Prime Minister Barak said. "It could be a large-scale attack or it could be repeated several times."

Earlier, U.S. President Joe Biden also said he was "in discussion" about a possible airstrike on Iranian oil facilities.

Former Prime Minister Barak went on to predict that there is a public opinion that Iran's nuclear facilities should be bombed inside Israel, which could lead to symbolic attacks on military targets related to the nuclear program.

However, he diagnosed that it was too late to frustrate Iran's nuclear ambitions.
