Holding 'DMZ Peace Walk'...More than 1,500 foreign ambassadors from each country participated in the event.
The "2024 DMZ Peace Walk" event was held today (5th) in Imjingak, Paju, with 1,500 foreign ambassadors from nine countries, including Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon, German Ambassador to Korea Georg Schmidt, representatives of Switzerland and Sweden, and Gyeonggi residents.

The DMZ Peace Walk, which has been held since 2019, is a representative sport of the DMZ Open Festival and is an event to walk on the ecological trail along the Imjin River in the civilian control line to experience the ecological value and the importance of peace in the DMZ area firsthand.

Gyeonggi Province has set up not only a simple walking event but also various auxiliary programs for the 'DMZ Peace Walk,'
The
Heart Orchestra performance enriched the atmosphere of the event, and various booths such as social value product promotion booths and sports taping experience booths were operated around the venue, providing a unique experience to participants.

"Peace on the Korean Peninsula is threatened, but our people have DNA to overcome the crisis," Governor Kim Dong-yeon said. "Let's walk for peace on the Korean Peninsula today and pledge to go on the path of prosperity in the Republic of Korea together."

Meanwhile, Gyeonggi Province will continue to hold the "DMZ Peace Marathon" tomorrow (6th) where you can run around the DMZ at the same place.

Through the two-day DMZ Sports Festival, Gyeonggi Province expects the DMZ to become a symbolic space for peace and sports.
