Yeouido Hangang Park is already crowded, right?

[Reporter]
Yes, there are still about three hours left until the fireworks festival, but the grass at Yeouido Hangang Park is actually fully occupied.

Both of us came early to catch the famous spot with a good view of the fireworks festival, but when the YTN reporters checked on the spot, there were citizens who were waiting from 7 a.m.

As crowds gather from early hours, traffic in the area is also closed from 1 p.m.

Yeouido-dong-ro, which is close to the event area, specifically between the southern end of Mapo Bridge and the 63rd building, is closed to all vehicles until 11 p.m.

Only residents and event vehicles will be allowed to enter the intersection of the Yeouido Community Center from Park One Tower, which is crowded with residential areas, until 11 p.m.

The festival, which runs for about an hour and a half from 7 p.m., is expected to attract nearly 1 million people.

At the same time, the Hangang Light Island Festival hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government was also held at Yeouido Hangang Park, so some citizens were worried about the large crowd.

[Ryu Mi-Joo / Wonmi-dong, Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi-do: Like the incident in Itaewon, I'm worried that something unfortunate might happen. Even if you go home without stopping, there will be a lot of people on public transportation, so I'm also worried.]

The government has prepared comprehensive measures to disperse crowds with civil safety as its top priority.

It said it plans to increase the number of subway lines 5 and 9 by 10 p.m., and after the event, 26 bus lines will be concentrated at Yeouinaru Station, Yeouido Station, and Yeouido transit centers to induce a quick exit.

If it becomes too crowded, the possibility of non-stop passage of the Yeouinaru Station in front of the venue has been opened, and the entrance can be closed.

For those who go to the festival, it is recommended to know the way home through other subway stations such as buses, Yeouido Station, Mapo Station, and Saetgang Station in advance.

Detailed public transportation information and detours can be found on the Topis website of the Seoul Transportation Information Center.

Congestion is expected not only in Yeouido but also in Jamsil, right?

[Reporter]
Yes, the 2024 professional baseball semi-playoff game between LG and KT is being held at Jamsil Stadium from 2 p.m.

More than 20,000 seats have been sold out, and a concert of virtual idol "Play" is also scheduled at Jamsil Indoor Stadium from 6 p.m.

If the exit and the entrance crowd overlap, it seems that a major traffic jam will be inevitable.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government said that about 60,000 people are expected to gather in Jamsil alone today, and asked them to use public transportation as much as possible as parking spaces are very scarce.

So far, the Ministry of Social Affairs has informed you.
