Explosions near Pakistan airport... "one dead, 10 injured"

At least one person was killed and 10 others were injured in a massive explosion near Karachi International Airport in southern Pakistan, foreign media reported.

Reuters quoted local media as saying the nature of the explosion was not yet clear.

Local officials say at least one of the 10 injured is a foreigner, according to Pakistan's Jio News.

Meanwhile, the separatist armed group Baloch Liberation Army, BLA, said in a statement that they had committed the explosion and claimed it was an attack targeting Chinese people, including engineers.

The BLA is an armed group that has called for the independence of Balochistan, which borders Afghanistan and Iran in southwestern Pakistan.

They have specifically targeted the Arabian Sea strategic port of Guadar, accusing China of helping the Pakistani government exploit the region.

In August, more than 70 people were killed in the region in an organized attack by the group.
