a city in yellow muddy water
Two elephants carrying people cross the current.
Elephant relief activities were carried out near Chiang Mai, a famous tourist destination in northern Thailand that has been severely damaged by recent floods.
Local Thai aid workers arrived with elephants in a village in the Sarafi region, about 20 kilometers from Chiang Mai city, to help stranded residents.
The floods were caused by heavy rain during the rainy season in Thailand, a tropical monsoon climate, flooding the Ping River across Chiang Mai.
This has caused major tourist destinations, including famous night markets, to flood Chiang Mai and some areas to lose electricity.
