The National Human Rights Commission of Korea has reversed its previous judgment and decided that high school school rules that collect mobile phones collectively are not human rights violations.

The National Human Rights Commission held a plenary committee meeting at the National Human Rights Commission in Jung-gu, Seoul, this afternoon (7th), and voted 8-2 on the issue that high schools collect and store students' phones during work hours based on school regulations.

The dismissal reportedly claimed that students' cell phone use interfered with class progress, citing some overseas cases banning the use of cell phones on campus, such as France or Florida.

On the other hand, the citation expressed concern that stipulating the collective collection of mobile phones in the school regulations could limit students' self-expression and contradict the existing position of the Human Rights Commission.

The Human Rights Commission usually does not write a decision on dismissal or dismissal, but unusually, it has decided to write a decision on this case.

Earlier, in March last year, a high school student in Jeollanam-do filed a complaint with the Human Rights Commission, saying it is a violation of human rights to take a cell phone and not use it during breaks and lunch.
