U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris is struggling to win workers' votes in Rust Belt contention states, according to an analysis.

The Hill, a political media outlet, reported that Harris is only 9%p ahead of Trump in Michigan and Pennsylvania worker approval ratings, showing a gap with Hillary Clinton, who was 12%p ahead eight years ago.

The fact that the Transport Workers' Union and the International Firemen's Association, which have mainly supported Democrats, have declared that they will not support a particular candidate in the presidential election also shows that they are not winning enough labor votes.

Compared to President Biden, who has had a special relationship with unions throughout his life, Harris is unfamiliar to the labor world and that culturally conservative unionists feel uncomfortable with the birth of the first female president, The Hill said.

In addition, Vice President Harris cited Trump's tariff hikes and his pledge to crack down on illegal immigrants as a disadvantage point in labor votes.
