A head of a local government has been found dead six days after taking office in a Mexican city.

Prosecutors in Mexico's Guerrero state said on the 7th local time that they are investigating the killing of Alejandro Arcos in the state's central city of Blackboard Singo.

Local media reported that the body of Mayor Arcos was found beheaded the day before.

Arcos, who was a member of the center-left opposition Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD), was elected in June's general election over a ruling coalition candidate and took office as mayor on June 30.

Earlier, in Blackboard Singapore, high-ranking city council officials and former director-level police officers were killed in about 10 days.Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum
said at a regular news conference that "we are conducting the necessary investigation to find out what the motive for the incident is, and of course, the corresponding arrests will be made depending on the outcome of the investigation," adding that she plans to present an overall blueprint for strengthening public security on the 8th.

Guerrero has been plagued by hurricane and earthquake damage in coastal cities including Acapulco in recent years, as well as cartel violence based in the region.

Last summer, when security authorities arrested two members of the gang "Los Ardiyos" on illegal weapons and drug possession, even those in gang-related businesses took over highways and seized police armed tactical vehicles.Former mayor of Blackboard Singo, nicknamed the

'Queen of the Party', caused a stir last year when it was revealed that he had several meetings with Los Ardiyos.
