UN "Southern Lebanon is also in ruins..."Similar situation in Gaza"

The United Nations has pointed out that southern Lebanon, where recent Israeli attacks have been concentrated, is turning into ruins like Gaza.

"The recent airstrikes have resulted in hundreds of thousands of migrants in seven southern Lebanese districts and the southern suburbs of Beirut," the U.N. World Food Program said in a briefing on the 8th local time.

"The villages they emptied are close to ruins," he said. "Most of them have to leave their residences within hours of the evacuation order."

The World Food Program says a surge in civilian casualties, overcrowding of evacuation facilities, food shortages and destruction of agricultural land are seen, similar to the humanitarian crisis Gaza has been experiencing.

In particular, 773 of the 973 shelters in northern Beirut have exceeded their capacity and lack food, as well as toilets and basic sanitation.

also expressed concern, saying, "In the past year, 1,900 hectares of farmland have been burned, and 12,000 hectares of arable land, Lebanon's most agricultural productivity, have been left unattended in the war."
