It has been alleged that former US President Donald Trump secretly sent Russian President Vladimir Putin COVID-19 diagnostic equipment for personal use while in office.

Former President Trump sent diagnostic equipment to President Putin in 2020, when the spread of COVID-19 was at its peak, US journalist Bob Woodward wrote in his new book War.

At that time, diagnostic equipment was scarce in the United States and other countries around the world.

"According to Trump, there have been several calls between Trump and Putin since leaving the White House in 2021 and they may have spoken seven times," Woodward also wrote in the book.

At the same time, he asked the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) about whether he would make a call, but he said he did not affirm or deny it.

Trump's presidential campaign protested, saying what was contained in Woodward's book was not true.

"None of these stories that Bob Woodward made up are true," a camp spokesperson said in a statement, lashing out at Woodward.
