The Ministry of Public Administration and Security said the number of places experiencing weather droughts due to precipitation has eased from 13 last month to three this month.

Weather drought refers to a phenomenon in which dry conditions persist for a certain period of time or longer because precipitation in a specific area is less than usual.

October precipitation is expected to be similar to normal, and November and December are expected to be less than normal.

Currently, the national average water reserve rate for agricultural reservoirs is 70.1%, above the average of 67.8% per year.

The storage volume of 20 multi-purpose dams and 14 water dams, which are major water sources for domestic industrial water, is 111.5% and 98.8% of previous years, respectively.

However, Boryeong Dam is in the "interest" stage, and it is managed so that there is no disruption to the water supply, such as operating the Boryeong Dam Waterway in accordance with the dam water supply adjustment standards.

Some island areas, including Jung-gu and Ongjin-gun in Incheon, Jindo-gun in Jeollanam-do, and Tongyeong in Gyeongnam, are providing emergency water supply such as transportation water supply due to regional characteristics.

The government will regularly check drought conditions every week in collaboration with related ministries to promote drought prevention measures.
