U.S. President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu talked over the phone about the situation in the Middle East, AP and Reuters reported.

In their first call in 49 days, the leaders of the two countries appeared to have discussed Israel's expansion of ground warfare against Hezbollah and Israel's retaliatory attacks against Iran's missile attacks.

President Biden opposes Israel's strikes on Iran's nuclear and oil facilities, prompting speculation that the call may have also expressed opposition to the escalation of the conflict with Iran into an all-out war.

The Associated Press also reported that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu recently spoke with former President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate of the United States.

Israel's prime minister's office said former President Trump called Netanyahu last week to congratulate him on the intensive and decisive operation he is conducting against Hezbollah.
