The world of Han Kang's works is deep and wide, but among them, "The Vegetarian" and "The Boy Is Coming."

The publishers that published these novels, Changbi, also had an emotional night.

Our production team met Yeom Jong-sun, CEO of 'Changbi', over the phone. Let's listen to it together.

[Yum Jongseon / CEO Changbi: (Please tell us the atmosphere of the publishing industry.) I've also received constant phone calls and texts to congratulate me. We're in a difficult reality domestically and internationally, but everyone is really happy about this as if it's their job. I think I can feel this atmosphere as a new vitality not only in literature but also in publishing, academia, and even in the humanities as a whole. (From your point of view, what do you think is the greatest power of Han Kang literature?) From the perspective of publisher and editor, Han Kang seems to be a novelist who has complete control over each of his sentences and words. So I had no choice but to give great trust to the editor who didn't take a single comma and saw it in person. I think the power of Han Kang literature is that it creates a historical and social context from a macroscopic point of view while being faithful to each of these detailed basics and impresses readers greatly. (Do you have any future plans of your own to share the beauty of our literature with readers around the world beyond Korea?) The most important thing for a writer is a place where you can write, that is, a page. I think it is the most necessary work to encourage creation while continuing to increase the space for writers who are working silently in difficult conditions. It is necessary to make Korean works as well as Western literature on the reading list of foreign students' formal education, so that Korean literature can become a common cultural nourishment for mankind.]
