Han Kang's record of being the first Korean to win a Nobel Prize in Literature is also helping students who study literature.

Many students studying literature, as well as the juniors of the writer's alma mater who majored in Korean literature, cannot hide their overwhelming feelings.

Reporter Shin Gwi-hye reports.

'I was wondering if you've been well without getting sick.

The flow of flowers and setting leaves the road and it is so difficult to spend winter once, so spring snow falls in March.'

It is a line from a poem [Letter] by Han Kang, who won the Yonsei Literature Award in 1992 as a Korean language major of Yonsei University.

Having dreamed of becoming a liberal arts writer here for four years, Han began her career as a novelist the year after graduation.

I have always been a proud alumni, but the school is in a festive mood as it has written a new history of being the first Korean to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.

In particular, there is an expectation that the achievement of Korean literature achieved by a writer will be a driving force for juniors majoring in Korean literature.

[Kim Young-hee / Director of Korean Language Literature at Yonsei University: The most pleasing thing is that the social interest in literature education and literature itself will increase.... Wouldn't our society's message to many people who will lead this society in the future be a little different?.]

My juniors are also overwhelmed by the news of the senior I met through books or lectures.

[Yoon Chan / Yonsei University 3rd grader] There are famous works, I've read The Vegetarian, Here Comes a Boy, and White. Since I'm a student majoring in Korean language at Yonsei University, I'm a little more proud of you.]

[Yoo Ha-eun / Yonsei University Literature Society Member: I've actually met Han Kang and listened to her lectures after getting her autograph.. As a junior, I felt that I wanted to try to expand my path (of literary development).]

The appearance of a writer is also a hope for numerous students who love other literature.

[Kim Jeongwon / Literature major: As a person who writes poetry and literature, his activities feel a bit unrealistic, but I was able to feel the reality visually when I heard the news of this award..]

A writer's Nobel Prize in Literature is inspiring and encouraging students who dream of becoming the second and third Han River.
