8 car crashes near Cheongju Rest Area...2 cardiac arrest and 10 minor injuries

Around 6:30 p.m. today (13th), eight cars collided one after another near the Cheongju Rest Area on the Gyeongbu Expressway, injuring 12 people.

On-site confirmation showed that at least two people were taken to the hospital with their hearts stopped, and another 10 were also slightly injured.

However, there is a possibility that the number of casualties will increase further as the fire authorities continue to carry out rescue activities.

In addition, all four lanes in the direction of Seoul are closed for nearly two hours in the aftermath of the accident.

A police official explained that the exact extent of the damage and the cause of the accident will be determined as soon as the scene is completed.
