Earlier on May 20, the Chinese military conducted the "Yonhap Regen-2024A Exercise" to surround Taiwan shortly after the inauguration speech of pro-U.S. and anti-China President Lai.

The Eastern Bloc stressed that the exercise is also a legitimate act to protect national sovereignty and unification, giving a strong shock and fear to Taiwan's independence-splitting forces.

It is interpreted as a retaliatory measure for President Lei Ching-deh's so-called "two-state theory" in a speech commemorating Taiwan's National Foundation Day on the 10th.
