Former Kyung Hee University professor Kim Min-woong, who revealed the identity of the victim of the late former Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon's sexual violence case, has been sentenced to probation.

On the 12th of last month, the Supreme Court confirmed the original ruling, which sentenced former professor Kim, who was handed over to trial on charges of violating the Sexual Violence Punishment Act, to one year in prison and two years of probation.

The Supreme Court decided that there was no mistake in misunderstanding the law in the judgment of the lower court.

Former professor Kim was put on trial in December 2020 on his SNS account for exposing A's real name when he released a photo of a birthday letter sent to former Mayor Park from 2016 to 2018.

Former professor Kim admitted the charges in the first trial and was sentenced to six months in prison and suspended for one year.

Former professor Kim denied the charges, saying he had no intention of disclosing his real name and could not view A as a victim of a sexual violence crime, while appealing against the first trial's ruling, but the appeals court considered the original trial too light and increased the sentence to one year in prison and two years of probation.
