The Korea Institute of Medical Education and Evaluation, which evaluates the curriculum and conditions of medical schools, criticized the Ministry of Education's legislative notice to revise the evaluation and certification regulations, saying medical education could become poor.

The Korea Council held a press conference today (16th) and pointed out that the revision will hinder the normal operation of the medical school evaluation and certification project, deepen confusion in the medical education field, and negatively affect the quality of medical personnel.

In particular, he criticized that the council must have independence and autonomy in order to act as an evaluation agency, but the revision of the Ministry of Education limits and undermines it.

He then stressed that the revision of the Ministry of Education must be withdrawn, saying that having proper educational conditions for medical schools is a minimum requirement for training competent doctors.

Earlier, the Ministry of Education announced legislation on the "Revision of Regulations on the Evaluation and Certification of Higher Education Institutions," which focuses on granting a supplementary period of one year before the medical school's educational conditions deteriorate.
