Our literary works are supporting overseas expansion...Securing additional relevant budgets

With Han Kang's Nobel Prize in Literature, various support projects will be promoted to translate and advance our literary works abroad.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Korea Literature Translation Institute, and the Korea Culture and Arts Commission held a meeting and decided to invest 3.1 billion won for overseas translation of our work next year and 4.5 billion won for promoting and introducing Korean literature.

In particular, we have decided to allocate new budgets to overseas researchers, critics, and literary magazines that study and illuminate our literature.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also decided to support domestic publishers' participation in overseas book exhibitions and copyright transaction counseling, believing that more foreign publishers will publish Korean literary works.

The government said that as Han Kang's novels were also introduced overseas through translation support, it will focus its capabilities on systematizing the support of related organizations so that a second Han Kang writer can come out.
