Police to inspect police stations nationwide in wake of embezzlement of seized items

After a series of incidents in which police officers stole money and valuables seized during the investigation, the National Police Agency launched a full-scale inspection.


The National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters announced today (17th) that it will conduct a "full investigation into the status of integrated evidence management" for city and provincial police stations nationwide from tomorrow (18th) to the 25th.

As a follow-up to the recent repeated incidents of police officers siphoning off seized materials at front-line police stations in Seoul, the first division of the investigation of each city and provincial government will directly check the management of seized materials.

On the 14th, a sergeant identified only by his surname Jeong, a member of the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul, was caught stealing 300 million won worth of confiscated goods, and was arrested urgently after it was revealed that a sergeant identified only by his surname Kim stole money and valuables seized for voice phishing crimes.
