International oil prices rose for the first time in five days as Israel expressed its willingness to continue the war despite the death of Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar.

West Texas Intermediate crude for next month delivery rose 0.4% to settle at $70.67 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Brent crude oil for December delivery also rose 0.31% to close at $74.45 a barrel.

Market officials explained that after Sinwar's death was confirmed, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu stressed that "the war is not over yet," raising concerns about the geopolitical crisis again.

"If Israel goes to all-out war with Iran, it could block the Strait of Hormuz and put 12 million barrels of oil at risk," some experts predicted.
