Nearly four months after the Arisel lithium battery manufacturer's fire that killed 23 people, the government has set up a safety guide for fires and explosions in the battery manufacturing industry.

Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Moon-soo visited a lithium primary battery manufacturer in Dangjin, Chungcheongnam-do, today and unveiled the "Safety Guide for Fire Explosion in the Battery Manufacturing Handling Industry," which guides best practices in battery manufacturing companies.

The guide included 'maintaining low humidity and installing heat, fire detection devices', 'access to fire, no contact with water, no impact', 'storing and transferring batteries with flame retardant tools', and 'installing at least one emergency exit'.

In addition to preparing safety guides, the government has also decided to expand financial support for the installation of fire prevention facilities.

Starting next year, we plan to provide up to 100 million won for visual devices to easily recognize evacuation routes or emergency exits or install partition walls to prevent the spread of fire.
