Food and Drug Administration Approves Emergency Use of COVID-19 Vaccine for Infants

A vaccine for infants and toddlers to be introduced to respond to the COVID-19 variant has been urgently approved.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced today (21st) that it has approved the COVID-19 JN.1 mutation vaccine for emergency use for infants and toddlers from 6 months to 4 years old.

Emergency use authorization is a system that allows the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety to manufacture or import unauthorized products if requested by the head of the relevant agency to respond to a public health crisis.

Earlier, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention requested emergency use approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for inoculation of infants and toddlers.
