At least two people were killed and three others injured when Israeli forces struck the Syrian capital, Damascus, according to local media.

In a related development, the Israeli military said it had removed a money carrier that had been receiving funds from Iran and sending them to Hezbollah.

Syria's state broadcaster said five people were killed or injured when a car was attacked by guided missiles in Damascus' Majech region, and a nearby hotel building was also damaged.

The Maizeh region, where Israel has launched airstrikes, is home to Syrian security agencies and embassies from each country.

Israel has repeatedly attacked the area in April, killing the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard's Quds Force in an airstrike on Iran's consulate building in the Majech region.
