When representatives of each country expressed concern about military cooperation between North Korea and Russia at a U.N. meeting, North Korea countered that it was a legitimate cooperative relationship between sovereign states.

An official at the North Korean mission to the United Nations said at the first committee of the U.N. General Assembly held at the U.N. headquarters in New York on the 21st local time that they do not feel the need to comment on unfounded and predictable rumors trying to tarnish their national image.

It also added that the so-called arms transfer between sovereign states goes against the conference's theme of arms reduction and international security.

The North Korean delegation has repeatedly criticized the UN Security Council's resolution to impose sanctions on North Korea, calling it a flawed document created by the U.S. hostile policy toward the country.
