A man in his 40s, who was lecturing an 11-year-old elementary school student who was swearing at a security guard in his 70s, was attacked with a weapon by the student.

After the incident, Gwanak Police Station secured CCTV footage and launched an investigation. A was sent to the Seoul Family Court as a juvenile offender for special injury, but he was excluded from criminal punishment because he was a juvenile over the age of 10 and under 14.

In recent years, such crimes against juveniles have been increasing rapidly. According to the National Police Agency, 65,987 Chokbeop boys were handed over to the prosecution for five years between 2019 and 2023. Among them are violent criminals, including 263 arsonists, 54 burglars and 11 murders. The number of Chokbeop boys more than doubled from 8,615 in 2019 to 19,654 last year.
