U.S. media companies are suing AI companies that collect articles without permission and use them to learn artificial intelligence and AI.

The Wall Street Journal's parent company, Dow Jones and the New York Post, have filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against AI startup Purplexity AI, AFP reported.

In their complaint, the media claimed that Purplelexity's AI-based search service is committing a "free ride" act of illegally copying and reproducing its articles and contributions.

He also claimed that PurpleLexity is even undermining the brand value of the media by providing misinformation, and that it should pay $150,000 per copyright infringement.

The New York Times, which is suing Open AI, also recently sent proof of content to Purplelexity calling for an end to copyright infringement, and eight newspapers, including the Chicago Tribune, have also been filing copyright infringement lawsuits against Open AI and Microsoft since April.

PurpleLexity is an AI search engine company that has been attracting attention as a "Google opponent" with investments from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Nvidia, and has yet to state its position on the lawsuit.
