Recently, less than a month after a teenage girl was murdered on the street in Suncheon, Jeollanam-do, the pain and shock of citizens have not gone away, and the Suncheon Police Department is celebrating itself as "No. 1 in security."

On the 21st, Suncheon Police Station distributed a large-scale press release saying, "It was selected as the number one among 259 police stations nationwide in the evaluation of public security and excellent offices in 2024." He received a presidential group commendation at the Police Day ceremony for scoring high scores in evaluation categories such as major security policies, social underdog protection activities, investigation capabilities, security investigation activities, security customer satisfaction, and perceived safety.

At the same time, citizens are angry at the appearance of banners saying, "Congratulations Suncheon Police Station achieves No. 1 nationwide security performance."

Earlier, at around 0:44 a.m. on the 26th of last month, Ms. A (18) was stabbed several times by Park Dae-sung (30), who had no idea.

In particular, the place with the banner is not even 100 meters away from the place where a teenage girl was killed by Park Dae-sung, causing anger.

Citizens criticize that even if they won the award due to the different period of evaluation of security performance, they do not understand the behavior of rushing to inform the situation of self-respect.

According to the Seoul Shimbun, a Suncheon citizen said, "I can't even walk comfortably because I'm afraid of the night road, but putting up a congratulatory banner is a behavior of teasing local people," adding, "It can't happen if I didn't turn a blind eye to the pain of the bereaved as well as the pain of the citizens."
