Regarding the criminal case of Lee Jae-myung, the head of the Seoul Central District Court, Kim Jung-joong, the head of the Democratic Party of Korea, said that the court in charge will make a fair judgment based on evidence and legal principles without being affected by power or public opinion.

In a parliamentary audit of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee held at the National Assembly today (22nd), Kim made the remarks in response to a request by Song Seok-joon, a member of the People's Power, to tell him his determination for the first trial of violating the Public Official Election Act and perjury teacher charges scheduled next month.

Regarding lawmaker Joo Jin-woo's claim that Lee's sentence should be broadcast live for balance between the ruling and opposition parties and the public's right to know, citing former President Park Geun Hye's case, he said he thought the court would make a good judgment by comparing the defendant's will, public interests, and the defendant's private interests.

Regarding the repeated delays in trials for major politicians, he explained that intensive hearings are likely to be possible only when at least four courts are increased, citing the lack of judges.

In addition, there was an opinion that the fact that Cho Kuk, the leader of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party, avoided legal detention even after being sentenced to prison for corruption in children's entrance exams is a problem with equity.

Kim, the chief justice of the court, replied that other results may appear because it is a judgment based on circumstances such as the destruction of evidence or the fear of escape.
