Science Exhibition Grand Prize, Gyeonggi Buk Science High School 'Spectrophotometer using quantum dots'

Students from Gyeonggi Buk Science High School, which miniaturized a large spectrophotometer that analyzes chemicals using quantum dots at the National Science Exhibition, received the Presidential Award.

Students Han Jun-sang, Kwak Seung-jae, and Cho Ha-rin, who are in the second grade of Gyeonggi Buk Science and High School, synthesized quantum dot films to create short-wavelength light sources required for substance concentration analysis, and made software and hardware themselves through 3D printers.

Choi Doo-hyung of Sangam Elementary School and Lee Ji-yoon of Ungcheon Elementary School, who developed an artificial intelligence experimental device that can teach by linking the structural characteristics of shells with the habitat environment, received the Presidential Award of Teachers and General Affairs.

The National Science Exhibition has been held since 1949 and is the oldest science exploration competition in Korea, marking its 70th anniversary this year.

More than 2,400 items were submitted from all over the country in this competition, and a total of 299 items advanced to the finals.
