replied to a question from Rep. Baek Seung-ah of the Democratic Party of Korea asking for her opinion on "vegetarians" during a parliamentary audit of the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education held at the National Assembly Education Committee.

Representative Baek pointed out, "2,528 sex education books were censored and discarded in Gyeonggi-do alone at the insistence of a specific organization," adding, "This biased instruction led to the disposal of the works of Han Kang, a world-renowned literary writer."

He then asked, "Have you read The Vegetarian, did it seem like a work that would be selected as a harmful sex education book?"

In response, superintendent Lim said, "I read The Vegetarian, and it is a work that contains deep thinking written in very deep thinking," but added, "However, I read it with a feeling of embarrassment to the students when it comes to Mongolian spots in the book."

"I understand what parents are worried about educationally," he said, adding, "If you are my child, I would recommend you to read after graduating from high school."
