[Gyeonggi] 'DMZ Eco-peace Forum' will be held from the 4th to the 6th of next month.

Gyeonggi Province announced that it will hold the "DMZ EcoPeace Forum" event at Aegibong Peace Ecological Park and KINTEX in Gimpo from the 4th to the 6th of next month.


The forum, organized as an academic event for the DMZ Open Festival, focuses on finding a vision for sustainable ecology and peace in the DMZ.

The concept of extending the value of the DMZ to various areas such as tourism, economy, and culture will be introduced under the theme of DMZ Ecology, Peace, and Nexus for Greater Peace.

The forum will be held at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 1 from the 5th to the 6th after the opening ceremony and basic talks at Aegibong Peace Ecological Park in Gimpo on the 4th of next month.

At the opening ceremony, Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon will lead the discussion on the spread of peacekeeping, and more than 70 domestic and foreign experts from 10 countries, including Choi Jae-cheon, chair professor at Ewha Womans University, Yoon Young-kwan, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Gabriela Schaffman, professor at the University of Zurich, August Pradeto, professor at Helmutschmidt University, and Han Beom-soo, professor at Gyeonggi University, will join the 18 sessions.

The peace session connects peace with people, the planet, and development, embodying peace discourse from various perspectives and presenting a vision for peaceful cooperation on the Korean Peninsula.

The ecological session will discuss ways to preserve the DMZ ecology and how the DMZ can be imprinted as a symbolic space for ecology and peace.

The Nexus session will expand its perspective to the northern part of Gyeonggi Province, tourism, innovation, economy and culture surrounding the DMZ to explore the possibility of development and practical measures in northern Gyeonggi Province.
